The Evolution of the Iron Age
Elites were not strictly defined in the iron age. Being part of the elites in ancient times was much more flexible. We see ideologies of elite behavior, but they spread to go back to my research in Peter Kussai. Some local people are able to exploit the advantage of having these connections with the Aegean. They are able to set up wine production facilities. So definitely there is a creation of a new elite class,. But what you also see at the same time is that they start locally producing these Greek wine cups for their followers.
