If Jesus had been Denzel Washington, he would have failed. That would be a failure because he would have given in to the devil. I was really conflicted by the end of the film because that's not the way of Jesus. But I love that the bad guy died the way that he did. It's the scandal of the cross, I think. So he comes riding on a white horse. He takes a very traditional image of Denzel Washington coming in but then his guns aren't material. They're his words. And then we're told that he's covered in blood. But the battle hasn't even happened yet. He's already covered in blood before the battle happens. For
