There was actually debate in the 1850s, whether narcissistic personality disorder existed. So in Freud's time, it was all histrionic that that's presented themselves and they were rare. And my lived experience at the time was that we went through this thing called the sexual revolution. It came out of a massive uncoupling from our biology that had never happened in human history. That's why I give you that historical sweep that Mitchell provides.
