Getting Into a Trade Union in Australia
Worked from 20 12 to 20 19 for an m n c that manufactured fibre glass insulation. The major manufacturing plant is in melbourne, and at the time, employed close to a hundred staff. This union was historically very effective in winning excellent conditions and remuneration for its members. Unskilled workers were paid 50 dollars an hour, which is around double what most factory workers earn in australia. After a month or so, 25 of the strikers were made redundant. It's fancy talk for fired. Ah just i didn't learn that term until actually he the british office. Hopefully a once in a lifetime experience, but i'm glad i had it.
