The Mausoleum Under the Necropolis
The mausoleum under the burial mound has been left in place, mainly for fear of disturbing and destroying its contents. So remember, these terracotta soldiers have been excavated, but we see them as sort of blank, washed out gray colors. They were supposed to be bright and richly colored, but after being exposed to the fresh air for the first time in over two thousand years, those materials were destroyed. But regardless, even just these pits with the terracotta warriors, have become a major tourist site and an iconic symbol of china.
