The Importance of Listening to Your Experience
I have no doubt that the clinicians I was seeing believe that they were accurately diagnosing me. They just weren't actually listening to what I was saying. And I very, very rarely felt respected. It was partially an age thing and partially a gender thing among other factors. But there were so many times where I would go in and say like, look, I'm already familiar with the DSM.
