The Debt Ceiling: A Financial Ticking Time Bomb
Since 1960, Congress has lifted America's debt ceiling 78 times. Republicans are using the threat of a default as leverage to push through their policies and cancel ones passed by Democrats. The United States government has more outstanding debt than all of corporate America combined. No one knows what will happen if the U.S. defaults on its debt but we're pretty sure it wouldn't be good.
