What Is the Current Elite Consensus Around China?

i find that the current foreign policy debate often boils down to, ah, in back, like six years ago, the debate was if you were hawkish on china. The people that say that we'rein a cold war acknowledge this is an existence issue that should be prioritized above every other a foreign and domestic policy initiative. And what's at stake is the political survival of the liberal order. Sometimes it's really important to not let a blow to the self-defence of our own country weaken us sufficiently so as to avoid confrontation with China. I think we need to stand on principle and be very realistic about the capabilities that the chinese government has cased and go from there
