The Partisan Press in America

The partisan press in the 1790s made today's fake news look tame by comparison. The media then was in far worse shape than it is now as much as we worry about today's media. So for Washington's first term, he's basically sacrosanct. But by the end of his second term, especially once Hamilton's left office and he's no longer there as a target, the Republican press sets its sights squarely on Washington.
