The president tried to pardon amed ale, but was stopped by jimmy carter. He lost the prime of hiss boxing career because of it - and so did many other ramifications. It reminds you that he came into office with a very divided country,. And those messes cost him. But there were much larger forces at play that were that limiting factor. A ouno, i think, a presidency that, in many ways, was just sort of stuck in the mud from the beginning.
