How to Write Weird Hits

I don't really go out of my way to write weird shit. Everything has to come naturally and it does. I accept that weird chord progressions will probably maybe drag something out of you that wasn't there. But I put everything into the melody because that's what's going to stand the test of time. Strawberry Fields without the melody is just a load of fucking weird chords, right? That was two words: 'Walrus without the melody' The Amorphous Androgenous have asked me to co-write with them for their next record. So we did a week in the studio in London and wrote three songs - they're amazing.
