The gardeners were dressed like those that had been there before 1789. Could they have come across a historical movie being filmed? They didn't see any people using motion picture cameras, which at the time were quite large and should have been seen. The staff at Versailles in 1901 did not, in general, wear pre-revolutionary uniforms.
