The idea of the naval holiday was definitely scrapped after that. I did this following the career of an interesting guy named William Le Kue, QU-U-X. He wrote a novel in 1894 called The Great War in England in 1897. In his novel, Britain is invaded by the French and the Russians. But the tide turns when Germany comes into the war on England's side.
