There are all kinds of reasons why the results of an unsuccessful trial might not get published. It may threaten commercial enterprises a interest to publish a trial which is disappointing. There's laziness. And that's the real scandal here, is that you are allowed to legally withhold the results of these trials and so people do. The results of trials are routinely and legally withheld from doctors, researchers and patients who need this information the most. That is a systematic structural failure. So how does ben goldacre see the situation improving?
