How Much Time Does It Take to Be on a Board?
A lawyer who is active on boards but does not have a senior leadership role probably has to allocate somewhere around 30 days a year. On every board, you have obligations to attend one or more committee meetings. There are conflicts in terms of being on one board and what other board can you be on. The 30 days that I suggest is truly the minimum. As a practical matter, boards invariably get the biggest challenges and largest opportunities.
