Festivity Is a Manifestation of the Goodness of the World
In ordinary labor, we're concerned that our effort accomplishes its purpose. But in a festivity, the whole notion of success or failure is irrelevant. With real friends, you are not attempting to accomplish anything other than friendship. Festivity gives up the usual expectation of reward or yield or profit. It sacrifices without any hope of return on the sacrifice.
