Detecting Nutrinos

If this supernove were in our galaxy, so quite close to us, we would be able to see it. Nutrinas are very weakly interacting particles that don't stop when they go through matter. They act as an early warning system that there's been a corcolap supernova. And if there is one, astronomers around the world will plug into the alert from these nutrino detectors. The first recorded observation, reliable recorded observation, of a supernover dates from a thousand and six c e - 16 times brighter than the planet venus.
