The connection would be between intentions and acts. It's conceivable that memory wouldn't be the principal thing, although I think it probably is. And so he even says on page 208, you could conceive of complete amnesia,. Even though they have complete amnesia, just because you can connect character, elements of character or intention to acts... There are a lot of other stuff that we haven't thought of.
