The Castle of the Earl of March, 1830s

The castle was neglected from say the 1780s onwards. Water got in and it collapsed, there is evidence that two masons chisels were used to stabilise the wall somehow before it collapsed. Mary Queen of Scots stayed here when she was just 18 years old. The people that owned it have been a mixed bunch,. There have been some scoundrels, and there's been some really fine people Somebody asked me if I had a choice, which time would I like to have lived here And I think it was the first Earl of March.
