What Every ID Clinician Should Know About Endocarditis

Many patients with infective endocarditis present and have possible considerations for anticoagulation. These patients are not like your typical patient when you're thinking about anticoagulating. A study found that in the first year after an endocarditis diagnosis, those patients were 10 times more likely to have a hemorrhagic stroke compared to the general population. The other piece I would say is that the guidelines are all great because they do provide us some guidance, but they're all written by people just like you and me.
