The Importance of a Cold Start in Java
Lambda functions are pretty resource constrained environments. You know, we've had this upgrade to 10 gigabytes of memory and up to six VCPUs. So it's actually quite a constrained environment. It really depends on what the functionality of the function is. If you're bringing a popular framework like Spring Boot to AWS Lambda, you can see cold starts of anywhere between five, six, seven, and eight seconds. And if you're using other frameworks like Quarkus or MicroNaught, you might see cold start of maybe three or four seconds.
