A Brief History of the Emperors of Japan

The soga clan were among these powerful clan groups which nominally accepted imperial rule. Emperor yome was the son of emperor kinme and his consort, soga nooana gini. His father died in five 87; if traditional date of shotoku's birth is accurate, he would have been 13 at the time. The next emperor his father's half brother, emperor sushun, whose mother also shotoker's grandmother, reigned for five years from five 87 to five 92.
