The Rise of the Working Class in the United States
I think what it seems, and you do talk about this a fair bit in the book, is that their shift moved from class politics to race politics. That's when they moved to more of a racial-device strategy, rather than a class- Device strategy. And Marcuse in particular is quite explicit about that. He admits openly, with some, you know, with some disillusionment, some sadness, he says that in the West, in the United States in particular, the working class is not just non-revolutionary, but is actively anti-revolutionary. They love the system, they don't feel as if they're part of the oppressed.
