There are multiple species of very mitive lamp rays, enough to suggest that maybe none of the primitive lamp rays started out with this laval stage at all. So it just completely removes te capls, the amoset labal phase, from the ancestry of the baterasd. There is good reason to think about the futere feeding as a dominant form of feeding leading up to the vertebrate group. But a completely different thing when you talk about the e sorof stem of the bartebrets as opposed to the last common ancestor of all living bartebrets.
