Webb Telescope

The pictures that we received this week are from webb, a kind of show really, everything that the telescope can do. One of the overarching goals of webb is to try and image the starlight from the very first stars to ignite after the big bang. We have models about when that happened, but it's likely to be around a hundred 200 million years after the big bank. Webb has the technology. It has the infered detectors that are required to go that extra distance. And on evidence of the imagery that we've seen this week, I think there's a lot of confidence that it will be able to do that.
