Most people are not smart enough to be consequentialists. If you want to win, if want to just look good or feel good about youself, you actually want to win. So this is how i reason about the problem. I expect to die. But hell, i'm going to give it a good shot and have a great time along the way. We're goin to go down swinging. And that's much psychologically healthier way to deal with the problem. For normal humans, this is not a productive, long term way to think about things.
