The History of the Church in North Africa
The traditional religion was pretty similar in a lot of the lands that were Greek speaking and North Africa was a little bit different. There there was a tradition of child sacrifice which seems to have survived even into the Roman period. That would have been a problem obviously for Christians, but practices like that tend to be unpopular.
