With my daughter, it was never anything official. She figured out because she'd seen something that built in on flight and that reindeer can't possibly fly. And then she started going to some of our lectures at Caltech and meeting a lot of these people,. So I think it just gets absorbed through the skin, so to speak. It's not like motivating reasoning goes down and confirmation bias goes down. That's the opposite. You know, if any of you know, the research from Yale shows yet that the more intelligent you are, the more creative you are creating these really persuasive narratives.

For too long, the term insubordination has evoked negative feelings and mental images. But for ideas to evolve and societies to progress, it’s vital to cultivate rebels who are committed to challenging conventional wisdom and improving on it. Change never comes easily. And most would-be rebels lack the skills to overcome hostile audiences who cling desperately to the way things are.
