Is There a Difference Between Expert Systems and Machine Learning Systems?
In an expert system, it's all about taking rules that humans already know. This is different from a lot of modern machine learning systems which learn based on examples. An expert system is only going to be as good as the knowledge coming from the human domain expert that produces the system. Some domains are very intuitive for humans, and it's hard for them to actually express how they solve the problem.
