The Role of Advertising in the Environment
In an environment that is supported by advertising, the people who are stewards of the environment are incentivized to keep you around. The folks who are running the place don't really want you to leave. They want you to see more ads because that's how they're making money. That creates incentives that drive a particular selection of content for you to watch. So it feels to me like some environments are a better fit for this model than others. And I think that advertising has a role to play and there are online environments where advertising makes a lot of sense.
