The Preparation for the Attack on Madrid

Nationalist forces were just 30 kilometers outside the city center by October 21st. The first bombing attacks on Madrid would be executed by German aircraft. This moment before the attack on Madrid was something of a high point for Nationalist forces in terms of their reputation. After the Republican counterattack efforts were rebuffed, the leaders inside the city began to fully prepare for the attack that they believed would almost certainly be successful.
