The root of trust is in a separate carrier board that you'll see on the next image, which I think was some of that budding modularity. You can't really use it outside of the system, right, like it has to be plugged into something to get power and other useful signals. It meant it was a very low complexity board, it was very simple so that we could make a bunch of these inexpensively. We also could rework them if we needed to as we destroy parts.
