Fleur Lombard was the first female fire officer to be killed on duty. She and a male colleague were caught up in what's called a flashover. The blast threw them both several metres across the floor. Her PPE had not protected her, despite being tested seven years later. Why are healthcare workers who are predominantly female still having to put up with so-called unisex PPE?
