Magellan's Revolt
Gasper de Casada and a group of men boarded San Antonio on April 1st, 1520. In the ensuing scuffle, Juan de El Ariga, the ship's master, tried to stop the mutiny but he was stabbed by Casada. The mutineers sent their demands to Magellan, better food, less harsh treatment, and most importantly, a return to Spain. They did not want to spend the winter in this harsh environment.
