The Importance of Recovery Intervals

Two minutes seems to work pretty well for typical aerobic interval sessions. You will slowly fatigue, but it's an appropriate amount of recovery. If you go down to that micro interval world where you're talking 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, 15 on, 15 off, those kinds of things, then that ratio of work to rest becomes really critical. So this goes back 60 years. This was done way back by Swedish investigators looking at 30, 30 versus 15, 15 and so forth.
