Machine learning allows us to look at the universe with fresh eyes and dimensionality reviews, such that our stupid little primate brains can actually go, Oh, damn, like, look at how many black holes there are in the neighborhood. It's playing into a more general trend where over the last few decades, just computational methods in general became a big part of this. I think it'll just be another tool that is pretty much standard.
