We're Terribly Useful as a Political Weapon
Section 28 banned the promotion of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship. It was adopted by Thatcher's Conservative government and it was part of a local government bill. The effect of Section 28 was to stigmatize gay people, says Stonewall founder David Walliams. "We're very useful on both sides of the political spectrum," he adds.
