I think this lines up with what you were describing. I have a young family member who's a fairly recent college graduate and he works for one of the big consulting groups. And what I was surprised by is that they actually use the pro bono work as kind of like the carrot, like you kill it with all your projects and you get some time to work on kind of purpose driven work. They don't point to the fact that like the core of what someone's doing isn't necessarily creating that positive value in the world. It's also I found very classist. We see a lot are upper class, upper middle class management, assuming people who have less means somehow meaning and fulfillment
