Using a numeric passcode gives people the opportunity to be lazy and use a birthday or something like that. Once you add a single letter to anything especially if it's not you're not spelling out a full word you've increased the complexity of the passcode beyond what a computer can guess. And also like you said use face ID use touch ID as much as possible but a few tips yeah alpha alpha numeric I agree that should just be the default for everyone.
