There is a lot of consistency in terms of the mappings between facial features and particular traits, certainly. And but there's a lot of variability too that's gone unaddressed. We can see that variability for one, this literature has really almost exclusively historically focused on young white male faces. But when you start to include racial diversity, gender diversity, both of the targeted perception and of the perceivers making the judgments,. actually this changes fairly substantially.
