In his autobiography, Thomas wrote that the church was silent on the issue of racism. That year, he realized that no one was going to take care of him or any black person in America. On so many levels, it puts young Clarence Thomas into a tizzy. He feels like a pinball being binged around the room here. So he's sort of at a loss, and that's when he leaves seminary. Dropping out of seminary was not part of the plan.
