The Holographic Principle and the Real World

A hologram is a two dimensional piece of film which encodes a whole three-dimensional world. Holograms have the property that you can walk around it and see what's behind somebody's head in an ordinary photograph. It has come largely through the work of Maldessina to become very much a standard pillar of physics.
