The Shah's Men - What Happened to You?

Something I noticed in my Persian family is that certain darker aspects aren't spoken about and you're kind of guarded from those things. When I was told about the Shah, they were like, he was this lavish king who always wore gold. They like to sugarcoat it because they're trying to protect you from internalized genetic trauma which you're like, what are you going to do? There's an extent to which that kind of sounds like my upbringing.I'll have to look into that a little. What did you grow up being told about it? I wasn't told much.
