The Assassination of Julius Caesar
Around 60 senators plot to kill caesar where the senate is meeting, the theattre of pompey. According to suetonius, there'd been clearly murmurs of disapproval and little huddles of people forming plots separately for some time. So plotting an assassination isn't exactly something that can happen out in the opens as much as it was previously. The word you used before about, i think tiberius, opportunistic applies to those earlier assassinations. There is a plan to get rid of this person, but when it happens is very much down to who gets there first with the chair leg.
