The Relationship Between Music and Emotion

Jana Voskoski is an associate professor of music cognition at the University of Oslo. She's study something known as the sadness paradox, how sad emotions can be a positive thing in certain situations. The idea of enjoying something tear jerking isn't exactly a new one, think of Greek tragedies or romantic poetry. If you've ever had your heart broken crying along to some breakup music can be a reminder that you're not the only person who's felt this way which makes you feel a bit better if only for a short time.
