P and p m has a thing in their package, o jason, that allows you to specify the node version. You can also put an engine strict equals true flag, and will literally not let you start it. N p m itself doesn't have a way to switch what version of node you're on. So it's a bit easier with p n p m, because p m p m will literally allow you to switch your node versions.
