The 1619 Project - What's So Important?

The 1619 Project was The New York Times's journalistic re-investigation, reimagining of American history. It picks the year that the first slave ship arrives off the coast of Jamestown, Virginia and it is seen as kind of the starting point of the introduction of slavery into what becomes the United States. "They want $13 trillion with the tea in payouts to supposedly close what they call the racial wealth gap," says historian Julian Zelizer.
