The Middle Class Lives Inside the City Wall
Most middle class lived inside the wall, what was called casemate housing. The people who are in need, the poor, the distressed, they end up outside the city wall. If you wered actually jump back a slide to that picter, the solomonic gate, you'll see that big trench going through the middle. That's actully their sewer line. They might have a water source that they opened maybe once or twice a day, and flushes all the sewage out that trench.
