Is There a Difference Between Synthetic and Analytic Statements?
cosmology is now more closely allied to ics than to philosophy. Pape says that witgenstein's doctrine is a result of his thesis that there are two classes of statements synthetic a posteriori and analytic a priori. Analytic statements are simply true by definition, like bachelor's a male. The a priori a posteriori distinction is about whether something is true from experience, a posterior, or independent of experience, a Priori. So the quirky, interesting case here is that some things can be true by definition but also true only from experience.
