Joe Oliver and the Mute

When you played at Lincoln Gardens and with Oliver when you came up in the early 20s, this was the technique that was used there too then. I didn't even music. I just wanted to know what he was playing. Because nobody touched us because I was so close to him. He'd make a break like the break is coming up and he'd make the break while the tune's going on. And we'd get to that break and put a second to it. They'd never been a team like that since. That's why I was thinking about saying Joe Oliver and I always will.
